Support for Demo Accounts

Thanks very much to the BookMap team for implementing “Plug in mode” for Rithmic connections. It is very helpful for me, and I am sure many others.

So everyone is aware, the whole reason the change was needed was because the CME is more actively enforcing rules regarding simultaneous connections, which in turn is requiring Rithmic to be stricter in their rules as well.

Because of this, an additional issue regarding Demo accounts has arisen, which has not yet been addressed by BookMap developers.

Previously, Rithmic would grant a free demo account with its own market data connection, but with the new stricter regime, this is no longer allowed.  From Rithmic’s perspective, the problem is solved in R Trader Pro because there are 2 separate logins, one for market data and one for order routing.

With this design, traders only need one market data subscription (connected to either their live or demo accounts) and can separately choose to route their orders to live or demo accounts as needed.

Unfortunately, at this time BookMap does not allow this regime to work.  Once I connect to either a live or demo account, regardless of whether I use plug-in mode or not, all the other Rithmic connections are greyed out.

Without such a fix, traders who work with multiple platforms (including me) would be forced to pay twice for their market data if they wanted a demo account, as Rithmic now has to charge for both the demo and live market data feeds.

I have a copy of the Rithmic API, and see that the current login function already requires 2 sets of credentials, one for market data and the other for order routing.

I believe the fix should be fairly straightforward, mostly just updating the Rithmic Connectivity configuration form to (perhaps optionally) specify the 2 sets of credentials separately.

Thanks very much,
