Direct order routing for Interactive Brokers.

Post by hdo » Wed May 21, 2025 10:31 am

Interactive Brokers defaults to Smart Routing for API clients, with no option to disable it. Clients must explicitly request direct routing. Smart Routing with Bookmap is problematic, splitting each order into 5-8 fills, resulting in 5-8 bracket orders per side per trade. This causes unreliable execution and extremely high commissions, as each partial fill generates a partial bracket order.

At least when it does generate bracket orders at all, which is another bug I'm not sure you ever fix. SierraChart does it right, learn from it.

Hi hdoPlease note that you can disable SMART routing by not specifying it as the exchange type. For example, instead of

Code: Select all

SMART:NASDAQ
, use

Code: Select all

NASDAQ
.Also, be aware that when bracket orders are enabled, you will receive a notification indicating that this functionality is implemented on the Bookmap side and may have certain specifics.

Where/how can this be specified in cross trading? I see no possibility to input that. That would be amazing.

I'm aware of that, but specifics are not the same as broken. You've already fixed hilarious bugs in the IB adapter that I reported. It's pretty clear this has seen close to zero real-world testing.

How about you show some interest in fixing your software instead of playing the "works on my machine" game? Want logs? Cool, you already have them. Want a live demo of it failing? Want me to reproduce it on your infrastructure? Sure, just contact me anytime.

You have enough open tickets, reports, and logs from me from roughly one year. You fixed one issue after I debugged it for you and ignored the rest. I see no point in starting something new. The IB/TWS adapter is effectively abandonware and its bugs just costed me a bunch of money again today. It's a disaster. I do not need support. I need you to fix your software. That said, I'm happy to be your unpaid QA Engineer. But again, interest seems zero.
