Select A Run Mode

Bookmap supports 3 modes of operation:

1. Live/Paper Trading mode presents real-time market depth data and orders transmitted from your supported data feed or trading platform.
2. Local Simulation mode allows you to trade with the internal Bookmap simulator while viewing real-time data transmitted from your supported data feed or trading platform.
3. Replay mode lets you replay previously recorded market depth data files from past sessions.

Note: Certain modes may be unavailable for Digital Free users, as this subscription tier does not include support for Trading or Replay modes.

1. Replay Data / Trading Simulated by Bookmap

This standalone mode lets you replay previously recorded market depth data files from past sessions. Using the Bookmap simulator, traders can execute simulated orders to assess their trading decisions and strategies.

Running Bookmap in Replay Mode

1. Open Bookmap and click on the run options selector.
2. Select "Replay Data" and confirm the restart prompt ("To switch to [mode], you need to restart Bookmap."). Alternatively, cancel the confirmation to remain in your current workspace.
3. In the main window, click Load Feed File, select a feed file representing a prerecorded trading session, and click Open.
4. The recorded session will load, and the instruments will open as tabs. Click on any desired instrument to open the relevant chart, which will start replaying the feed file data.
5. Use the control slider above the chart to navigate forward or backward within the recorded data. Hover over the slider for additional replay control options. Adjust replay speeds and pause using the controllers on the Replay Panel.
6. Use the pin icon on the right side of the Replay Panel to keep it visible or auto-hide it.
7. The Replay Panel includes the ability to jump to the next data point in the file, useful for microsecond analysis or to skip the end of day period (in case the recording stretches overnight).

Note: The "Skip To Next Data Point" button refers to the entire record file, not the specific instrument being viewed.

8. Bookmap reopens your last workspace automatically after switching modes.
9. You can open Replay mode by double-clicking a recorded data file or a downloaded feed file containing historical data.

2. External Data / Trading Simulated by Bookmap

This mode allows you to trade with the internal Bookmap simulator while viewing real-time data transmitted from your supported data feed or trading platform.

3. External Data / Trading through Your Brokerage Account (Real or Simulated)

This mode presents real-time market depth data and orders transmitted from your supported data feed or trading platform. It supports transmitting limit orders to your trading platform through one-click order placement directly from the Bookmap chart.

Note: Check recording checkboxes to keep a record of your data and orders for later analysis in Replay mode.

Once you have made your choice, click OK to proceed.
