Software Versions
Difference Between Versions
Bookmap maintains three different versions: Production, Beta, and Alpha. Each version is updated every few weeks with new builds containing fixes to bugs.
Production version doesn’t contain new features until they have been tested in the Beta version. This version has been available the longest and doesn’t include known bugs. Download the current production version here
Beta version becomes a Production release after user testing and once the next beta release is ready. Download the current beta version here
Alpha version includes the latest features but will probably be less stable for the new features that are being added to it. Download the current alpha version here
See Bookmap Release Notes for more details about features and enhancements introduced in the latest releases.
Updates
Automatic updates
Bookmap provides automatic updates. Ordinarily, you will get notifications when a new version is released.
A gradual rollout procedure is applied to most beta builds. Specific parameters for each build are tuned on a per-build basis, but the general idea is that new builds are not distributed to everyone at once.
This way, if there is a significant issue, it will not impact every user at the same time. If you are experiencing issues with a beta build, your first consideration should be to make sure you have the latest version.
You can opt in to early builds by checking the Help >> Update >> Get new builds early option. This will inform the auto-update system that you want to get builds before those who did not check this box.
